Grazia Varisco (born 1937) is one of the leading figures of Italian kinetic and programmed art. Founder of Gruppo T alongside Gianni Colombo, Davide Boriani, Giovanni Anceschi, and Gabriele De Vecchi, she has explored since the 1960s the relationship between light, space, and perception. Her research is rigorous and experimental, based on the idea of an “open” artwork, constantly changing, inviting the viewer to actively participate in the perceptual process.

This piece, created in 1964, belongs to the historical core of Grazia Varisco’s kinetic research. The work combines structure, light, and movement, generating a continuously shifting perceptual rhythm. Neon light, filtered through blue methacrylate, alternates according to a cycle controlled by an electric motor, producing visual vibrations that constantly modify spatial perception. The result is a dynamic composition where mathematical rigor and poetic sensitivity coexist: geometry becomes luminous pulsation, and technology becomes a sensory language. This work represents a pinnacle of the artist’s 1960s output and is a key testament to the collaborative spirit of Gruppo T.
