Pokémon TCG Gardevoir Lv.X — Diamond & Pearl Secret Wonders (BGS 9)
Diamond & Pearl (2007) – #131/132, BGS 9 MINT
Gardevoir Lv.X from Secret Wonders, released in 2007 at the height of the Diamond & Pearl era, is one of the most recognisable Level-Up cards of its generation — and one of the few to treat the Psychic-type Pokémon in a register of lightness rather than menace. Ryo Ueda's illustration sets the figure in flight, white and green against a pale rose ground, an image whose luminosity separates it from the darker compositions that dominate the Lv.X line of the period.
The mechanic behind the card is the reason collectors return to it. Level-Up cards were layered over a Pokémon already in play and inherited its attacks, Poké-Powers and Poké-Bodies, making them a structural, not merely cosmetic, part of the Diamond & Pearl game. Here that structure was built around control: the Poké-Power Teleportation allowed Gardevoir to trade places with another Pokémon, while Bring Down could knock out the Pokémon on the field with the fewest remaining HP. In competitive play it was a card opponents planned around.
Encapsulated by Beckett at 9 MINT, the card sits in the grade band that serious Diamond & Pearl collectors work within, with the third-party authentication the era's vintage stock increasingly requires. Gardevoir carries a following that crosses the playing and collecting communities, and its Lv.X printing remains among the most sought-after versions of the character — a card that reads as elegantly on a shelf as it does in a registry.
