Pokémon Shining Mew CoroCoro Comics Promo (Japanese, 2001) – PSA 10

Issued exclusively as a magazine insert for a single 2001 release of Japan’s CoroCoro Comics, Shining Mew stands among the most storied Japanese Pokémon TCG promos—never sold as a standalone product and never pulled from boosters, but obtained only through that original publication channel. The card belongs to the celebrated “Shining” subset, defined by its full-art presentation and dark, star-laden atmosphere; here, Mew appears serenely suspended against a purple-green cosmic field, an image whose ethereal tone has become emblematic of early-2000s Japanese promo design and of Mew’s enduring “mythical” status across the franchise’s films and landmark media. From a collecting and investment perspective, CoroCoro magazine promos occupy a specialist tier of the hobby where survival in top condition is notably difficult—these were handled as paper inserts rather than protected pack pulls—making a PSA 10 Gem Mint example particularly significant for long-term desirability, liquidity, and set-building at the highest grade level. With constant cross-generational demand for Mew and enduring prestige around the Shining category, this piece anchors serious collections focused on Japanese exclusives, Shining-era iconography, or premium-grade character-centric portfolios.
