Johnnie Walker 52 Year Old (III)
Release 2018 – Blended Scotch Whisky, 52 Years Old
Johnnie Walker 52 Year Old (III) stands among the most elusive modern releases from Scotland’s most internationally recognised whisky house. Created under the direction of Master Blender Dr. Emma Walker, it was conceived as a tribute to founder John Walker and his son Alexander—both of whom lived to the age of 52—turning an anniversary narrative into a museum-grade object for serious spirits collections.
At its core is a 52-year-old blended Scotch built from just eight exceptionally mature component whiskies, including parcels from now-closed distilleries such as Brora, Glenury Royal, Glen Albyn, Glenlochy, Cambus and Carsebridge, alongside Dalwhinnie. This is the kind of provenance collectors prioritise: liquid heritage drawn from silent stills, where scarcity is structural rather than manufactured, and where each bottle functions as a time capsule of Scotland’s lost production sites.
Released in 2018 and limited to 200 bottles worldwide, this edition was largely allocated through select channels, leaving minimal availability on the open market. Secondary pricing has been observed above the original €22,500 release level, with demand supported by the broader global trend toward ultra-aged, blue-chip Scotch from legacy brands. For the investment-aware collector, the combination of extremely low outturn, closed-distillery content, and Johnnie Walker’s enduring brand gravity under Diageo makes this a coherent acquisition thesis—equally defensible for long-term cellaring or strategic resale, subject to storage and market conditions.
